Rockyyy J, composer/song producer

Rockyyy J(Ruoqi Jin) composes K-pop songs, hip-hop tracks and energetic Hollywood-style music for films. She seeks to write trendy and entertaining music and danceable beats that speak to the body.

Rockyyy J released her first K-pop instrumental EP, Green Delusion, on multiple platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. Rocky has collaborated with Mohamed Sultan and Jiapeng Xiang, two graduate film producers at Maryland Institute College of Art. She also worked as an intern composer for several music production companies, including NetEase Cloud Music and Transcendent Starlight Media & Arts. Also, she as an assistant for Mpath LLC, mainly focusing on the preparation of metadata and uploading music tracks to Mpath’s international distributors’ portal, owned by Sony/ Universal.

Rockyyyy J is currently pursuing her B.M. in Music for New Media from the Peabody Institute, where she studies with Thomas Dolby and Chris Kennedy, and her B.A. in Economics from Johns Hopkins. She is the Artistic Director of SLAM, Johns Hopkins University’s premier hip-hop dance group, and a KPM member, an award-winning K-pop dance cover group at JHU. She has also choreographed for SLAM for over four years and teaches beginner hip-hop dance lessons in China.
